SABAL TOURNAMENT ON 10TH AND 11TH JULY AT ST. MARY'S SCHOOL, TUMKUR
There are three categories - PRIMARY SCHOOL [6TH & 7TH] - MIDDLE SCHOOL [8TH] - HIGH SCHOOL [9TH & 10TH]. Application forms with name of the students and standard duly certified by school managements MUST BE SUBMITTED on or before 9th July by 4pm. Late entries will be rejected outright.
The fixtures will be given on 10TH JULY AT 10AM. All other rules will be standard SUMPOORNA TOURNAMENT rules. Briefly these are:
1. TEAMS will comprise of FIVE PLAYERS. One substitute can be kept.
2. Two halves of 10 minutes each.
3. When a team has lead of 10 points - the match will be treated as over.
4. Rough play will not be permitted.
5. When a player makes THIRD FOUL - he will have to leave the court and the team
shall play with FOUR PLAYERS only.
Referees' decision will be binding on all. Any dissent would mean elimination of the team. AND THE TEAMS FROM THAT SCHOOL will not be permitted to participate in future tournaments as a disciplinary measure.

SUMPOORNA ANNUAL BASKETBALL LEAGUE FOR UNDER 15 YEARS 2010 - S.A.B.A.L - THE GRASS ROOT BASKETBALL REVOLUTION!
The SABAL process has begun. If last year we conducted FIVE TOURNAMENTS - this year it is NON-STOP TOURNAMENTS. SABAL MATCHES will be the real grass root revolution. Raising the level of the game by playing match after match in a learning environment. The only thing that can happen is - YOU BECOME A BETTER BASKETBALL PLAYER with every match you play. We are planning a tournament within a tournament! Sounds familiar like IPL matches - you bet it is!
On 12th and 13th June, we travel to Shishu Mandir, Bangalore for selection of students for SABAL. On 19th and 20th June, we conduct an inter-school tournament for Tumkur Schools and pick up the SABAL students. Finally, on 26th and 27th June - we conduct the first round of SABAL SEASON. SIXTEEN TEAMS [boys and girls mixed] will be divided into two groups. The elimination rounds and the final playoffs would all be very exciting indeed.

If enough number of visiting basketball players are there - A DEMO GAME FOR THE SABAL STUDENTS would be arranged. We are also giving SUMPOORNA T-SHIRTS @ Rs.250 each - this amount is used to provide `free T shirts' to rural school children who play basketball.

WHAT DOES IT TAKE? TO MAKE AN ELEVEN YEAR OLD GIRL - A SHOOTING MACHINE!
I am overwhelmed! If I think I am on a long journey to produce WORLD CLASS BASKETBALL PLAYERS - I admit, I AM WRONG. S.A.B.A.L. pre-seasons have established this fact. The deadly combination of PARINISHTA - REHAANA - HARSHINI in a stranglehold of KOMAL - THE TWO BHAVANAS - is capable of beating any combination. They are the SABAL SOLDIERS OF INDIA. There are others who couldn't make it - but they too are ready sharpening their talons - ready to take on the world.
They are very deceptive in looks. Go through the photos and be AMAZED. They pack a punch which the DON BOSCO SCHOOL saw and admired. What will SABAL SEASON do to them - I wonder! Now all I need is parental support and a compassionate `view' by the TUITION TEACHERS AND SCHOOL MANAGEMENTS!

S.A.B.A.L SEASON 2010 - CALLING EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS, CORPORATES AND INDIVIDUALS
S.A.B.A.L SEASON 2010 is going to show-case the game of basketball in action packed, exciting matches during weekends throughout the year. The objectives are:
a. An Indian initiative that promotes BASKETBALL at grass root level.
b. It is a precursor to a professional league for junior players.
c. Networking players, institutions and corporates for common objectives.
d. Pushing INDIAN SPORTS to the top - where it rightly belongs.
FORTY BOYS AND FORTY GIRLS WILL BE SELECTED BY THE ORGANIZERS who will play these matches throughout the season. The kit which includes a basketball, uniform and track suit would be provided. These children will be provided with regular training clinics and friendly matches with various teams.
EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS having basketball courts who wish to generate interest in the game may be considered for holding matches and tournaments of S.A.B.A.L if they are able to provided the necessary facilities.
CORPORATES who would like to print their logo on all the basketball accessories and also display banners may contact us. These will be used by the players for the whole season.

DON BOSCO SCHOOL, TUMKUR WILL HOST SABAL 2010 PRE SEASON TUMKUR EDITION FROM 19TH TO 21ST MAY, 2010. The tournament objective is to encourage learning of basketball rules and playing in a joyful environment.
1. Boys and girls born on or after 1-6-1994 are eligible to play.
2. Registrtion of players can be done on 98860 20145 or on 19th May before 9am.
3. Timings are 7am to 6pm.
4. Please bring your own breakfast. Lunch will be provided for registered students.

SUMPOORNA ANNUAL BASKETBALL LEAGUE FOR UNDER 15 YEARS 2010 - I WILL STAND ON COURT FROM DAWN TO DUSK!
A MATCH TEACHES WHAT A YEAR LONG TRAINING PROGRAMME CANNOT! But young players get traumatised too! Or they get head weight - that they know enough already. Both the situations aren't right. It is important that any learning programme should provide opportunity to learn as well as the right court behaviour - for then only it would have a meaning. Sitting on bench as team - yet not getting the `time' to play; isn't also suitable for young children.
SUMPOORNA annual basketball league addresses these concerns. FORTY BOYS AND FORTY GIRLS will be formed into 8 teams each - they may be `school teams' or they may be a `friendly group'. Each player would pay an annual registration fee which would take care of the `uniform' - `track suit' and other administrative expenses. Different basketball courts would be used at different locations. Convenience of the players would be top priority - the playing environment would be `child friendly'. For any player wanting to register the following THREE are important:
1. Total parental support.
2. Personal desire to `learn and play'
3. Impeccable behaviour.
Registration forms would be available from our office as per address given below. You may also call me up for any clarifications. Up to TWO PLAYERS per team maybe registered as stand by students. Training programmes would be organized as and when feasible. We will also invite `basketball dignataries' and `club officials' to pick up children for playing `official tournaments of basketball'.
Registrations are offered on first come first served basis - but anyway the last date is 12th April, 2009. Any player born on or after 1-6-1995 is eligible. We reserve the right to de-register any player at any time without giving any reason whatsoever.
HOOP MANIA HAS BEGUN. BE A PART OF THE INDIAN BASKETBALL REVOLUTION! This league is promoted by a person who has made `sports education' as his mission of life and has innovated projects like A.S.H.A. - ASHATHON - A.B.L.E and now through SUMPOORNA provides opportunity to rural children for learning the game. At present he is the coach of VIDYARANYAPURA SPORTS CLUB and available in the ground between 5pm to 6pm.

SUMPOORNA BASKETBALL LEAGUE FOR GIRLS
SUMPOORNA BASKETBALL LEAGUE FOR GIRLS will be played between 26th Dec to 1st of Jan. It will be a unique event where EIGHT TEAMS OF FIVE PLAYERS per team would vie for the top honours. The basketball league is strictly BY INVITATION only and all things being equal preference would be given to SUMPOORNA STUDENTS. IT IS A RESIDENTIAL PROGRAMME to be conducted at SUMPOORNA BASKETBALL SCHOOL's campus at a village near Tumkur [90 Kms from Bangalore and only those students who bring consent letters from their parents are eligible. Food, accomodation and all transportation charges will be borne by us.
The following notes may help:
1. The objective is to promote EXCELLENCE IN BASKETBALL.
2. Senior volunteers of SUMPOORNA will be involved in officiating and guiding the
league and no outsiders are permitted either as spectators or as visitors.
3. SUMPOORNA `code of conduct' is to be strictly followed by all participants.
4. Matches WILL NOT BE PLAYED school-wise but teams would be formed by organizers.
5. All the 40 players will have to stay till the end of the programme.
6. Confirmation of participants has to be completed by 23-12-2009. 5 stand by
students names would also be listed - in case some drop out at the last moment.
Parents desiring to send their children will be given details of what to bring after the selection process is completed. Kindly ensure your child is healthy and let us know if we need to know anything specific about your child.
The entire programme is to bring out the best in your child - and to this end, many theory and practical training classes will be conducted during SUMPOORNA BASKETBALL LEAGUE.
